It is the oldest building in the city. Throughout its long history it has had different uses: defensive; manor house; place of worship with the chapel of Santa Maria; domestic use with private homes as a courtyard for neighbors; restaurant; warehouse and cockfighting ring, among others.

Currently, after its rehabilitation, it houses a space where a collection of archaeological remains found in the city is exhibited.

Among its collections are those related to the archaeological site of the Hockey Field, found and excavated in 2007. It is an interesting Neolithic settlement in whose necropolis appeared the remains of two people in an embrace position and which are known today as ‘Los Enamorados’. This is the oldest double embraced burial discovered to date in the world.
